The name may be borrowed but the sound is nothing short of original. Radio Caroline
is a five-piece band out of Baltimore, Maryland truly dedicated to pioneering their own
style of music.
Rather than merging into the latest music trends, all the band's energy has been poured
into developing soulful, hard-hitting, tighter than Kathy Lee Gifford's ass music combined
with emotion-packed lyrics containing enough depth to produce a best selling novel. The
music is unquestionably inspired by real-life events. With musical influences derived from
such a vast selection of music categories ranging from Blues, Soul and Alternative Country
to Funk and Modern Rock, it took Radio Caroline a few years to mold their sound
into the art form they had envisioned. And since time is a key factor in creating any form
of art, the band decided to build their own recording studio, thus allowing them to write,
record and experiment at their own pace. Following along the same pattern of
self-sufficiency, they also started their own record label, "Baltimore Records,"
where their debut, "This Town," was released earlier this year.
"This Town" is a carefully orchestrated blend of each artist's individual style,
resulting in a melodic journey that dares to dip its feet into multiple music categories -
successfully pulling it off. The response has been overwhelming and has created a
dedicated, and much appreciated following. It is clearly evident that the band seems to
"feed" off of each other's talent and energy while continuously taking more
risks and incorporating new ideas. In short, "This Town" is just a small taste
of what's to come for these five artists who continue to write, record and promote their
own music, while continuously performing live shows. And although they have successfully
handled all the logistics of their career themselves, they realize their time is best
utilized in the studio. Therefore, Radio Caroline is currently shopping major
labels for a recording contract that will enable them to live up to their capabilities and
continuously grow as musicians.
